Protecting your loved ones can be one of life’s greatest responsibilities. When a family loses someone, in addition to grief, survivors may suddenly be faced with costly expenses and debts and even a loss of income. You may also, at any point in your life, need caregiving services, which could cost hundreds of dollars per day. Many families would have trouble paying for living expenses if they lost their primary earner.

 

Help address these concerns with Trustmark Life + Care®, which provides permanent life insurance with additional benefits for care. The care benefits can be used to help pay for adult day care, assisted living or at home caregiving.

 

Trustmark Life + Care® provides:

 

  • Combination of coverage: get both permanent life insurance (death benefit) and care benefits for one rate.
  • Care benefits are paid to you when you receive caregiving services from either a professional or a family member. Benefits can help pay for professional caregiving services: home health care, assisted living, adult day care and more.
  • Guaranteed to last a lifetime: once you have coverage, your rate doesn’t increase as you get older.
  • You can even switch between family caregiving and professional caregiving and keep collecting benefits.

 

Eligible employees include active, full-time, ages 18–75.1

This two-in-one protection helps you avoid depleting your retirement savings or overburdening family members. Additionally, this benefit does not create a "use it or lose it" situation. If you don't utilize caregiving benefits, the beneficiary will still receive a death benefit.

These are the periods when you are eligible to enroll for Trustmark Life + Care®:

  • Within your new hire enrollment period.
  • If you have a qualifying life event (you get married, have a baby, etc.), call
    1-844-732-1903 to change or increase your benefit amount, or add a child or spouse to coverage.
  • During your employer’s annual enrollment.

  • Who is the provider?

    Your Life + Care® benefit is offered through Trustmark. This program is only available through your employer.

  • Who in my family is eligible for this program?

    You can add life insurance coverage for your spouse/domestic partner aged 18-75 in addition to your combined life and care benefits.1 Children through the age of 25, who are biological, adopted, stepchildren, or children under legal guardianship, as well as dependent grandchildren who are under legal guardianship of the employee are also eligible for life insurance coverage. You must apply for coverage in order to cover dependents.

  • How much does this coverage cost?

    Your cost is based on several factors, including your age, any special features you select, the amount of coverage you want, and tobacco status.

  • What if my employment status changes?

    Good news! If you leave or retire from your current employer, you can continue your coverage without interruption (subject to applicable law and the plan’s terms and conditions). Although payroll deduction will no longer be available, you may continue your coverage at the same rates without interruption by setting up deductions from your bank account.

  • How much will I receive for care benefits?

    As long as you meet the requirements of needing help with at least 2 of 6 activities of daily living or have a severe cognitive impairment and receive caregiving services for more than 90 days, you will receive the following cash benefits:

    • Professional Caregiving: 4% of your benefit amount per month, up to a maximum of your face amount
    • Family Caregiving: 2% of your benefit amount per month, up to a maximum of your face amount

     

    You may only collect one type of care benefit at a time. However, you may switch between professional caregiving and family caregiving at any time and keep collecting benefits, up to the maximum of your certificate’s face amount.

  • Will my coverage amount ever decrease?

    The death benefit reduces to 33% at age 70 or the 10th policy anniversary, whichever occurs later. However, the amount available for care benefits never reduces.
